Every single day we make a choice. Choosing to be happy is one of the choices we have to make every day. The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they have learnt to make what they have work for them.Happiness is a conscious choice. Here are some of the things that cost us our happiness:
- The past.
Part of being human is that we make mistakes, we make wrong choices but by the end of the day you have how to forgive yourself and move on. Sometimes holding on does more damage than letting go. When you make peace with your past you will be able to enjoy the present. Your past does not define your present nor you future. In fact your past should make you a better person.
- Comparing yourself with others.
People make the mistake of comparing themselves to others. You do not know what that other person’s journey is all about and you don’t know what they went through to get to where they are. Be proud of who you are and what you have achieved and be think positively. Humble yourself enough to know you are not better than anybody and wise enough to know you are different from the rest.
- Feeling like you own all the problem in the world.
We all go through that moment when you feel so low and feel like you own a million and one problems. When you are going through that phase just sit and reflect back on the achievements you have had and smile. We complain when we are going through a difficult time and tend to forget the great times. Distance yourself from negativity.
- Thinking too much of the uncertainty.
Nobody knows what the future holds. Taking a day at a time helps a lot. Worry about today since you don’t know what tomorrow holds for you. It’s alright not to know all the answers. Overthinking kills your happiness.
- Caring too much about what others think about you.
What others think about you is none of your business. What others say or think about you is not worth you sleep or happiness. Just be you.
Learn to be happy each and every day and accept life as it goes instead of wanting it to go your way
All the best in your conquest of happiness.
Till next time 🙂
